Camp for Science Teachers (UG level)
Program Overview
The program introduces science-specific instructional practices & resources to higher education faculty. It meaningfully blends the content and pedagogical aspects, empowering college teachers to catalyse necessary change in the classroom and laboratory. There are three levels to the program – introductory level, advance level, and fellowships at HBCSE for a select few.
Program Content
The program has plenary sessions for all participants on themes like nature, history and philosophy of science, socio-scientific dimension of science, gender issues in science, etc. The discipline-specific sessions focus on disciplinary content and pedagogy, conceptual pitfalls, and context-based problems from pedagogical perspective. Hands-on experiences of inquiry-based experimentation, computational modelling and interactive systems for the teaching-learning of undergraduate physics, chemistry, biology are a highlight of the camp.

Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education (HBCSE), a national centre of the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR), is the premier R&D institution in India working in science, technology and mathematics education (STME). The Centre aims to promote quality and equity in science and mathematics education and promote scientific literacy in the country. HBCSE’s works on research, development and field testing of innovative teaching-learning practices in science through key impact programmes. It is a pioneering institution in science education research, also offering a PhD programme in this domain.
