Camp for Teacher Educators
Program Overview
The program introduces discipline-based education, which blends the content and pedagogical aspects of instructional practices & resources, to teacher educators in science and mathematics domains. There are three levels to the program – introductory level, advance level and fellowships at HBCSE for a select few.
Program Content
The program covers an introduction to constructivism, inquiry-based and innovative strategies for science and mathematics, learning by doing, creating meaningful learning experiences, understanding the nature of science, consolidation of subject knowledge, design and technology in education. The focus is on enhancing pedagogical and dialogic skills of teachers through practice-based artefacts and interconnecting ideas across grades and disciplines to develop a deep understanding for teaching STEM subjects.

Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education (HBCSE), a national centre of the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR), is the premier R&D institution in India working in science, technology and mathematics education (STME). The Centre aims to promote quality and equity in science and mathematics education and promote scientific literacy in the country. HBCSE’s works on research, development and field testing of innovative teaching-learning practices in science through key impact programmes. It is a pioneering institution in science education research, also offering a PhD programme in this domain.
