Community Engagement in Education

Program Overview

The program highlights the need for and importance of community engagement in formal learning spaces especially colleges in keeping with NEP 2020 and UGC document on community engagement. The program introduces participants to good practices of inculcating community engagement aspects in their teaching and learning thus building an understanding that colleges as learning spaces are integral to community.

Program Content

Participants learn to make education contextual by providing exposure to real-life situations and its complexities. Program encourages higher education faculty across disciplines to appreciate and design ways of engagement with various community groups for cross-sharing and cross-learning thus enriching the learning of students.

Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) Tuljapur campus is actively engaged in promoting sustainable, eco-friendly and inclusive rural development through teaching, research, field action programs, training and documentation. While TISS Tuljapur campus is treading the path towards higher education, its commitment to building the capacity of frontline workers, especially at the grassroots, and evolving alternative experimental action programs aimed at livelihood, social entrepreneurship and institution-building has assumed greater significance over the years.
