Introduction to Reasoning
Program Overview
‘Introduction to Reasoning’ a three to four month-long program calls for an active engagement of the learners to experience high order cognition by way of reading materials, online sessions, participating in discussions, and doing assignments.
Program Content
This program systematically introduces the HE faculty, students, and other stakeholders to ‘reasoning’, one of the many Higher Order Cognition (HOC) skills that higher education endeavours to develop among students. The program methodology includes about five hours a week of self-learning (including reading, attending online sessions, participating in discussions, doing assignments, and so on) using the shared material. An online google forum is used for asynchronous discussions throughout the program. Face-to-face interaction with the resource persons (over two 2-day workshops) enhances the theoretical learning. The program builds initial capacity of faculty for teaching thinking and develops the habits of mind needed for Higher Order Cognition for all the participants.
